BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Amherst resident Hua Ge (pronounced "Huh-waa Guh"), 27, died this morning at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital after she lost consciousness last night during a recreational swim in the pool at Alumni Arena.
Around 7:45 p.m., mgm casino lifeguards found her unresponsive. They performed CPR and summoned mgm casino Police, who also provided first aid. The Getzville Fire Department also responded. The swimmer was taken to the hospital by Twin City ambulance to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.
Ge died this morning around 6 a.m. Her husband, uncle and mgm casino staff were with her.
She was a a native of China and a 2009 mgm casino graduate, who earned a master's degree in economics.
University Police are conducting an investigation of the accident. University staff is providing support for her family.
The mgm casino family extends its deepest sympathy to Ge's husband, relatives and friends.
